For what it’s worth – let me share some thoughts with you as I reflect on the deeper things in life (or not so deep things as we shall see)! Please feel free to comment through the blog.
So this morning I went for a final cycle ride and made use of the Sunday morning quiet to visit the classic sites of West London – Over The Albert Bridge, upto Sloane Sq., on up to Kensington, through Hyde park, over to The BBC and up into Regents Park to Camden. Then – back down through the West End into Soho, over to Mayfair and past Buckingham Palace (photo attached somewhere) and then back through Chelsea and home to Battersea. It often strikes me what a wonderful city London is and how special it really is. BUT – I do wish people would keep it cleaner – and to be honest what really bugs me are the smokers who think dropping their cigarette ends in the street is OK. Well – it’s absolutley not. It annoys me everywhere – Dallas, New York, you name it – but since the appropriate banning of smoking in pubs here – the smokers hang around outside and then litter the pavement and the road with their debris. This is clearly a first world problem (as is said these days), but can’t we solve this? I take my litter home with me or put it appropriately in a litter bin (trash can for some). Why can’t smokers? Well – I asked one – just yesterday! Of course this is statistically valid as it was a high quality sample (just not quantity). I found the answer to be enlightening and insightful.
“well that wouldn’t be right would it – walking around with a filfie fing like that in your pocket would it”
So there you have it – a filthy cigarette butt – must be left where it was consumed because it’s just too dirty for a smoker to carry around with them. I rest my case and leave you to think about this.
Meanwhile – enjoy this morning’s scene from The Mall!

You have hit a nerve with me and smokers. Since pubs and restaurants have made smokers go outside for a smoke those who choose not to smoke (and me an ex- smoker) can not enjoy a meal alfresco iron a drink on a summers night in the pub garden because all the bloody smokers are outside. Could go on but rant over
